Surya Foundation is a registered charity in Sri Lanka operational since 1992. The aim of the Surya Foundation is to support the Social integration process of the country through various programs targeting the underprivileged of society with equal opportunities for learning, employment & healthcare amongst others to “Bring light to the lives of the community”- which is the vision of the foundation.
Surya Foundation is the brainchild of Hon Karu Jayasuriya – the former speaker of Parliament and was founded in 1992 during his tenure as the Ambassador to Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. The main emphasis, on inception, was targeted at strengthening healthcare as this was the single component that caused the highest out-of-pocket expenditure in mostly the rural communities.

The aim of Project ECO Harmony under TUI Junior Academy Sri Lanka is to enhance environmental awareness and stewardship by increasing access to environmental education for children and young people, expanding the training of adults in environmental topics, and providing nature-based experiences to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the environment.

This is a video showcasing the benefits and improvements made to the school, society, and students themselves, as highlighted by one of the leading schools in Gampaha. The video is about the ECO Harmony project conducted by Surya Foundation in collaboration with TUI Care Foundation.
Through this project, students have gained valuable skills in environmental stewardship, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. By engaging in Eco Harmony activities, the student talks about how they have developed greater confidence, improved leadership abilities, and a deeper understanding of sustainability practices that benefit both themselves and their school community.
Surya Foundation Education & Training Center (SFETC) was set up in the year 2000 in Gampaha district. The focus was on providing educational opportunities to the rural underprivileged youth in the district in the areas of Information Technology (IT) and English, which are essential to approaching the job market
